Redevelopment of closed power stations
Given the significant changes to the UK electricity industry many power stations have reached the end of their useful or economic life or there have been other changes to the transmission and distribution network making them obsolete. Invariably many lines are retained as a point of interconnection at closed power station sites that would have an impact on development.
The complexities of electricity infrastructure are heightened at such sites as they are often the central point for high voltage networks and have a multitude of lines, cables and sub stations. With our experience of the legal framework provided for these lines and the physical impediment they create to development we are able to provide strategic advice on the matrix of issues that a developer would be faced with.
Our case studies demonstrate the added value we have brought to a number of these sites that are now planned for redevelopment for either residential or commercial purposes.
